Skyped!
I've been to Skypeland but didn't find anyone I know. But now I know what it is about and when the occaision arises and I have someone overseas I'll know what to do. A number of the CALD community organisations I am working with are using Skype to connect up with family and friends around the world.

Almost there....
I have been Facebooking with Melanie (Lexulus or scrabble), my younger family members and some friends. I talked to my niece and nephew about being on facebook and they sought me out. Interesting to find new way to communicate with the younger generation. I don't feel I am totaly successful as I don't stay on Facebook all of the time but dip in and out.
Have signed up for Second LIFE but struggling to find how to get started. If you are there look for me, now known as Lulu Grantly, whatever.....
Will perservere with this but in the meantime I am going to have a look at Skype.

Kerri and Old Faithful

Hello Kerri!
this is the first time that I have looked at a webcam and seen someone that I know. Kerri is off in the wilds of America (Yellowstone National Park) and the wonders of technology have brought her directly into our lives (in the office).
The Old Geiser with Kerri is not her husband but the geiser (puff of smoke) in the background, her husband is standing beside her.
The added picture is the Old Geiser going off!

Pay for news online says Rupert
My journey into the future using web 2.0 technologies and the thought of web 3.0, has led to interesting discussions with colleagues and friends. The other day after attending the web 2.0 discussion here at SLV, I mentioned the idea that newspapers as they exist today may not be here in 20 years time to the horror and downright dismissal of the idea by some friends.
The next day on the radio, I heard the comment that Rupert Murdock wanted to charge people to read news online from his companies. Interesting idea I thought but no thanks I'll go elsewhere for my news.
Here is an article from the guardina on what he said.... Rupert Murdoch's online folly

Guess who has their own Myspace page?
Phryne Fisher, well known gal about town (in the 1920's in St Kilda).
Well actually, Phryne is the main character in a series of books by local Melbourne writer Kerrie Greenwood.

Myspace
Well, I am surprised by Myspace. I have been exploring the many things availabile on Myspace and love the music, arts and film stuff I have been finding. Not sure that I would join up at this stage but love the ability of artists to have a creative web presence.
The son (17 yo) of one of my friends is is a band in WA and he has a music clip on Myspace, and it is on some list of newcomers or some such thing on jjj.
Anyway I can see myself visiting Myspace a bit from now on.
