wiki schmiki

I like the democracy of wikis but may be today is not the right day for me to be looking at wikis. Although one of my projects has a wiki and I love it. I get an email to alert me to new posts and in my own time I go and have a look. I have found it a great way to keep up to date with what they are doing in the project. Also there are some great resouirces which I have found really useful. I need to do a search and find some wikis on topics I am interested in - that is really the key to all of this!

Facebook, Spacebook, My Face.....

I have jumped a section to go and have a look at Facebook, after a request from one of the CALD SS groups enquiry for help. i keep getting the names wrong and cobbling them together hence spacebook and my face.

At this point in the journey I am feeling old....what is this facebook thing...so much personal information...I feel like a voyeur! It really is a different way to communicate and reach out to others. I will keep on going and learning but may hold back a bit on some info on my life.

I am pushing ahead with the program but depending on what I am looking at, I am not spending much time on the learning then and there. What I am finding is that I keep finding great stuff after the fact. Here are a couple of, I think interesting, fun things.

Google Books and Newspapers and Magazines

another useful tool but not for today. I can see how I will use Google books but not now. A friend who is a lecturer in creative writing uses Google books quite a lot for finding those excerpts or quotes in books. Fantastic for sourcing quotes etc. I can see that I will come back to this in time.

Adel showed me the Google newspapers and magazines link. Useful and easy to get lost here. This is not just Goolge News but has archives of articles as well. Very useful.
