If you want to add links to the right hand side of your blog, you can add a 'gadget' (Links) - Layout tab -> Page elements -> Add a Gadget. 'Links' is one of the Gadgets listed under "Basics".
For links within posts, make sure you use the Compose tab when you write a post, write the words you want to be a link, highlight them, then click on the silver chain link on a green 'earth' tool (it has the tooltip - Link). This will pop up a box in which you can write the link's address.
